Advocacy

The advocacy part of League seeks to influence public policy. Advocacy is the means by which League members educate themselves and prepare for action. At local annual meetings, state or national conventions, members can approve topics for study appropriate for that level of League. After thorough study, the topics are presented to the general membership for consensus. If common agreement is reached, a topic item is translated into a Position that the League can then support and upon which it can take action. Action may take several forms: letter writing, testifying at public hearings, serving on a variety of commissions, committees, etc. and lobbying at the local, state or national level for legislation.

LWVH supports a comprehensive plan for public parks and school sites in the City of Hudson.
